IBPS PO Exam Pattern: For the candidates appearing in IBPS PO Exam 2022-23 it is first and foremost priority to understand the IBPS PO Bank Exam pattern before starting preparations. The pattern is set by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), which conducts the IBPS PO Exam 2022-23. The IBPS PO Exam pattern is divided into three sections,

  • IBPS PO Preliminary Exam
  • IBPS PO Main Exam
  • IBPS PO Interview

The IBPS PO Exam is one of the most competitive exams in India. The huge increment is seen in the number of applications over the past few years. Reason behind this increment is, IBPS Bank Exam for PO is a highly reputed job, the selection process gets completed in a shorter period in comparison to other government job exams like SSC, Teaching job and other exams.

The IBPS PO exam pattern set by the institute is easy to understand and designed by keeping all candidates’ education qualifications in mind. IBPS PO Prelims Exam Pattern

The IBPS PO Preliminary Exam duration will be 1 Hour. To complete each section candidates will have 20 minutes time. There will be a total of 100 questions, which a candidate needs to complete in 60 minutes. The questions will be objective types and the IBPS PO Prelims exam 2022 will be conducted online at the test centre.

The IBPS PO Prelims Exam Pattern has not been changed by the institute since it started conducting the Bank PO Exam. Which also helped candidates to understand the pattern well and prepare the questions based on previous year recalled questions.

Important things to remember:

  1. The institute asks the candidates to report at the exam centre at least an hour before the examination time.
  2. The invigilator will check the attendance, sign the admit card, and take the candidate’s thumb impression on the admit card. Hence do not miss to carry your printed admit card and recent passport size photo matching to admit card picture.
  3. IBPS PO Prelims Exam 2022 will be objective type and will be conducted online, hence candidates must practice this by taking mock exams online to avoid first time mistakes.
  4. The candidate must qualify in each section of the exam by securing minimum cut off marks in order to qualify for IBPS PO Main exam.
  5. There will be negative marking in IBPS PO Preliminary Exam, hence answer the question when you are confident enough.

IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern

There will be two papers the same day, and both will be online at the center. One of the exams will be objective type and another will be a descriptive test. There will be 4 sections in the objective test of IBPS PO Mains Exam.  

The objective test will have a total number of 155 questions having maximum marks of 200. The IBPS PO Mains Exam objective test duration will be 3 Hours i.e., 180 minutes.

The descriptive test will have a total number of 2 questions having maximum marks of 25. The IBPS PO Mains Exam descriptive test duration will be 1/2 Hour i.e., 30 minutes.

IBPS PO Mains Exam Descriptive Type Test

Important points to remember –

  1. There will be negative marking for wrong answers, hence be confident while marking answers to the questions.
  2. The time for each section is allotted by the institute separately, hence time management will be the key to success.
  1. Though the descriptive paper is a test of the English language, the questions are asked based on current affairs.
  2. Marks are awarded based on the correct usage of grammar however the content should be relevant.

IBPS PO Interview

The candidates, who will successfully clear the IBPS PO Mains Exam will be called for an interview. The interview will have a maximum 100 marks. The interview will be of qualifying nature and candidates need to secure minimum 40% marks.

There are some relaxations in qualifying percentages in IBPS PO Interview, which are listed below –

The IBPS PO interview usually ends in15-20 minutes.

Candidates will be asked to provide documents for verification purposes and background checks on various parameters will be done. The complete process may take approximately 8 hours.

IBPS PO Exam Final Score Calculation

The final score will be calculated by considering IBPS PO Mains exam and IBPS PO Interview marks. The weightage of Mains Exam marks will be 80% and Interview will be 20%.

The marks obtained in IBPS PO Prelims Exam will not be considered for calculation of final score.

The aggregate IBPS PO Score will have a maximum 100 marks. Candidates must qualify IBPS PO Prelims, Mains exam and Interview separately for selection in the final list.

Important points to keep in mind about IBPS PO Exam Negative Marking

  • Every incorrect answer attracts a penalty of one fourth (25%) of the marks allotted to that question.
  • Candidate cannot mark two answers simultaneously.
  • There will be no negative marking If the question is left blank.
