How Additional Surveillance Measure restricted 20 stocks including Adani Wilmar to get more investors?
The National Stock Exchange in India has been trading in a mixed mood last week, 19 Sep to 23 Sept, and on Friday it closed in the red. The trend has formed a bearish candlestick pattern. The volume traded in NSE was seen at its lowest in the week. Among all this, NSE has taken a decision to exclude 20 stocks from ASM Framework including Adani Wilmar.
What is Additional Surveillance Measure (ASM) Framework?
Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and National Stock Exchanges in order to enhance market integrity and safeguard interest of investors, have introduced various enhanced pre-emptive surveillance measures. Some of which are listed below
- Reduction in price band,
- Periodic call auction
- Transfer of securities to Trade for Trade segment from time to time.
In continuation to various surveillance measures, SEBI and Exchanges have decided that along with the aforesaid measures there shall be Additional Surveillance Measures (ASM) on securities with surveillance concerns based on objective parameters viz. Price / Volume variation, Volatility etc.
The shortlisting of securities for placing in Additional Surveillance Measures (ASM) is based on an objective criterion as jointly decided by SEBI and Exchanges covering the following parameters:
- High Low Variation
- Client Concentration
- Close to Close Price Variation
- Market Capitalization
- Volume Variation
- Delivery Percentage
- No. of Unique PANs
- PE
On Saturday, NSE gave relief to 20 stocks and excluded these shares from Additional Surveillance Measures.
